Swami Rama
FOUNDER of the Himalayan Institute
Buffalo yoga students founded the Himalayan Institute of Buffalo in 1974 under the guidance of Sri Swami Rama of the Himalayas. Raised and trained in the mountains of North India, Swami Rama came to the West to build a bridge between the wisdom of the ancient sages and the scientific accomplishments of our era. His work at the Menninger Foundation in 1970 received international attention, demonstrating for the first time that a human being could regulate, and even precisely control, physical functions that had previously been thought to be involuntary. The author of over thirty books and a tireless spiritual guide, Swami Rama’s legacy continues to shape our vision.
